Hello out there and Happy Holidays to you!
My little town in Ohio is covered with a thin blanket of snow.
Rumor has
it we are in for ice covered walks and roads soon. We are
all bracing
ourselves for the morning challenges: getting to the car and
then to
work without any broken bones! Once at work we are bracing ourselves
for
the rush of people who didn't fare as well as we did and suffered the
broken legs, hips and arms. On the unit where I work, we see
a LOT of
hip and leg injuries common to the elderly. This is where I am
today,
December 29, 1998.
I have been lurking a lot lately, listening in on the conversations
here
and there. I sure hope Little Zoey is bouncing back more and
more every
day. My nephew got that nasty bug when he was barely a year old.
My
thoughts and prayers are with you Christina.
Thank you Claudia for reminding me of a great book. "The Precious
Present" holds a special place on my bookshelf. I can remember
finding
that book and reading it right there in the bookstore. Before
I knew it,
the tears were rolling and my friend was looking at me with curious
eyes.
She refused to read it at that time, seeing the effect it had
on me.
Once she did, she had her own copy!
Closing now to continue on with my prayerful evening. Please know
you
will be among my counted blessings.
Joanne, in Ohio
Cold as all get out!

Hello all! Zoey's Mom here.
I wanted to thank everyone who has kept Zoey in their thoughts and
prayers.
She has taken another step in the right direction. She's come
off her high-
frequency vent and is on a conventional vent. She's looking better
and I'm
glad she's two steps away from ECMO. Coicindently, another baby
came in last
night on ECMO, only two months old. I feel for her family and
feel so lucky
that Zoey turned around.
I'll keep updating as things happen.

Carlee and family--
Sending lots of love and prayers your way today on a successful surgery.
Hoping the recovery goes well.
We are visiting family in Va. for the holidays and just checked our
mail from
here. Things were extremely hectic before Christmas and I didn't
get a chance
to properly wish everyone a very safe, HEALTHY and happy holiday season.
We
wish all our families the best for 1999 and pray that our children
are well.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks Christina for the update and the good news. Have been thinking
about
your little girl and hoping to hear this. Will keep Zoey uppermost
in our
thoughts here in very cold Calgary. Hope you are also getting
some rest,
Christina. Take care.

Hi All, Carlee's Grandma her again. she came thru 51/2 hrs. of surgery
today
and did great. bad news thought the Dr. said the three middle fingers
are one
large mass of fused bone so she wil end up with only three fingers
and a thumb
an each hand. but they will be functionable so guess we can't ask for
more
then that. thank you all for your prayers and thanks to Dori and Mechelle
for
the note you will never know how much these small words of encouragement
means
to us all. May God bless all of you reads this. Love Marilyn

I forgot to say that they only did Carlee's pinkies today and did alittle
work
on her big toes so the nail won't engrow like her nails on her hands
do.
thanks again. Iwill keep Zoey inmy prayers. Marilyn
