February 3, 2005 HAPPY NEW YEAR 2005(A Little Late) :)
I am doing very well. After 8 long years of waiting
patiently, I FINALLY got my braces off two days ago. When I had the chance
to look in the mirror for the first time, I said "These are NOT the teeth
I remember". I had my braces on so longer, that I have had them longer
than I've known several of my friends, and longer than my two youngest
siblings have been alive...and they're growing up SO FAST!!! I am VERY
happy with the improvement, and I have to say it was a bigger improvement
than I thought it would be. I do have to wear retainers, however, I don't
know how often or how long I will have to wear them. But I figure after
eight years with braces, I can deal with anything. I picked out cute
little ladybug designs for my retainers. Retainers are so high-tech these
days, I tell you. Having been through all of this, I want to tell you that
as depressing as things might seem for you right now, there is an end to
surgeries and everything. After having my midface surgery in August of
2003, that was the last one I needed, so I'm happy to say I'm done.
A couple of other very cool things have happened in my
life recently. On October 16, 2004, I got my very first car that I can
call my own. It's a 2001 Ford Focus, and it's silver and comes with all
the bells and whistles,
including a very cool looking spoiler. It has an awesome sound system,
which I have gotten LOTS of use out of. Earlier that week, as a birthday
present, I got myself a digital camera. I have had lots of fun
taking pictures, and
have gotten more use out of it than I ever thought I would. On December 9,
2004, in honor of my sister's 10th birthday, we got two little kittens. I
must say they are HER kittens. Their names are Oreo and Cookie. Oreo is
black and white, and Cookie is all black. They are both long-haired are
approximately 6 months old now, according to the papers we got when we
brought them home. They have become two very important members of our
family and are a delight to everyone who meets them. They make quite a
team when getting into mischief and entertain us to no end. Oreo is often
the ringleader, and Cookie tends to hold back, but she is slowly starting
to come out of her shell. My older sister and I got our own kittens,
Michelle and Snuffelball when I was five years old, and eventually we had
four. Those four cats are in all of my childhood memories. They brought us
a lot of happiness and I miss them a lot. Watching my sister with the
kittens brings back a lot of memories from my childhood.
Well, that's about all that's new here. I hope all of you
and your families are doing well.
