Mathias' Page


In May of 2003 my son, Mathias was born with Apert syndrome. We did not know prior to his birth so it was kind of confusing and scary when he was born. He is now 2 years old and one of the happiest children I have ever known. He has had 3 surgeries so far, his first was at 2 months to place a tracheotomy and tubes in both ears. The trach made a tremendous difference in him. The next surgery was the craniosynostosis repair at age 1. He did great and was able to come home after 5 days. The third surgery was the first of his hand surgeries, this also went very well and I have been very pleased with the results so far. We go next week to start planning his next hand surgery and we are very anxious to have them completed.
